7 Reasons Why Most Authors Fail – Repost from The Self Publishing Podcast

Reposted By: Ebonye Gussine Wilkins

This is an article on the 7 top reasons why most authors fail in their writing careers (or lack thereof).

You can read the original post here.

For those of you who are short on time, here are the 7 reasons:

  1. Not Starting
  2. Not Finishing
  3. Treating Publishing Like A Hobby/Pure Art
  4. Not Having Fun
  5. Sweating The Small Stuff
  6. Thinking Short-Term
  7. Failure To Do The Work

I found this to be a great article (and likely a definite slap in the face to the authors that don’t do any of these things). As any published author will tell you, writing and publishing is hard work. It requires dedication and pushing things through even if they aren’t perfect. It requires committing whole-heartedly to your work, and then doing it all over again once a project is complete. But it is exactly what every author needs to do in order to succeed.

The article is definitely worth reading, especially if you’ve written for a long time but haven’t published yet.

Have you found any of these roadblocks to be true? Let us know about them in the comments.
