Switching Gears With Your Writing
By: Ebonye Gussine Wilkins
Have you ever decided to take your writing (or blogging) in a different direction? So many of us have been writing for a long time, and many of us have even found our niche, yet there may come a time where the old writing habits aren’t enough anymore. This can be a bit disconcerting, and perhaps even disillusioning (insert “what does this all mean?” while entering an existential crisis) but it isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Keep in mind that it’s a good thing to evolve as a writer, and that’s all that is really happening here. Over time (and experiences) different things might appeal to you. You will change, an grow, and become a better writer than you were before. Shouldn’t your writing evolve with you?
Take a minute to appreciate the writer you’ve become. Allow yourself to get excited about the new possibilities. Embrace the new chapter of your writing life.
It’s part of the process. You’re only getting more amazing as you go along!
Have you switched gears with your writing? Why or why not?
